About
A mandated presence in service of peace
Established by Security Council resolution, the Mission supports the protection of civilians, advances the political process, and reinforces the rule of law in partnership with host authorities and communities.
Overview
Who we are
The Mission is a multidimensional United Nations operation composed of military, police and civilian personnel drawn from dozens of Member States. It operates under the authority of a Security Council resolution and in cooperation with host authorities, regional organisations and communities.
Our work spans protection of civilians, support to the political process, rule of law, human rights, and the safe return and reintegration of displaced people.
